What Gareth can help with.
Most everyday dog problems can be coached over a call, because the person who needs the coaching is you. Calls are coming soon. Find your dog below.
Gareth's specialismLarge and giant breeds
Rottweilers, Dobermanns, mastiffs, Cane Corsos. Strong dogs need calm handling, not more force.
Sounds like
- “He weighs more than I do and he knows it”
- “Walkers and classes keep turning us away”
- “She's a softie, but people cross the road”
On the call
Equipment that actually fits, how to hold a lead so 50kg can't tip you over, and the handful of habits that make a big dog easy to live with.
“He clearly has an affinity with dogs and confident with very large ones.”
Gareth's specialismNervous and anxious dogs
Dogs who hang back, shut down or startle. We go at their pace, not ours.
Sounds like
- “She's fine at home and a different dog outside”
- “He won't take treats on walks”
- “New people and places are too much”
On the call
Reading your dog's body language together, finding the distance where they can cope, and building confidence in steps small enough to stick.
“My dog is sensitive and can feel anxious on lead, so Gareth came to meet us and we talked through everything about her and his experience.”

Puppy foundations
Toilet training, biting, sleep and first walks, sorted before they turn into habits.
Sounds like
- “The biting is relentless”
- “We haven't slept properly in two weeks”
- “I don't know what to do first”
On the call
A routine for your house and your hours, what to ignore and what to act on, and how to socialise a puppy without overwhelming them.
“it was clear from the first meeting that Gareth has fantastic knowledge/skills when it comes to dogs and especially bigger breeds!”

Pulling on the lead
Walks that feel like a tug of war, turned back into walks.
Sounds like
- “She pulls like a train”
- “My shoulder is wrecked”
- “We've tried every harness going”
On the call
Gareth watches you walk a few metres on camera, spots what's keeping the pulling going, and gives you two or three things to practise this week.
“We went from hating walks to enjoying going out with her walking calmly by our side in 2 sessions.”

Coming back when called
A recall that works when there's a squirrel, not only in the kitchen.
Sounds like
- “He's perfect until he sees another dog”
- “She only comes back when she's ready”
- “I daren't let him off”
On the call
Why your current recall word has worn out, how to rebuild it at home, and when it's fair to try it in a secure field.

Barking and lunging on walks
For dogs who kick off at other dogs, people or traffic. No shouting, no shame.
Sounds like
- “I walk at 5am to avoid everyone”
- “He's lovely once he knows a dog”
- “It's getting worse, not better”
On the call
What your dog is trying to achieve when they react, how to spot the moment before it happens, and a plan for walks that keeps everyone under threshold.
“Gareth is like a dog whisperer - so calm, nurturing and reassuring. His knowledge of dog behaviour is fantastic.”

Rescue dogs settling in
The first weeks with a dog whose history you don't know.
Sounds like
- “We don't know what she's been through”
- “He's glued to me and panics when I leave the room”
- “Everything is new to her, including stairs”
On the call
What to expect in the first three days, three weeks and three months, and how to build trust without rushing.
“She has come on leaps and bounds in confidence since going on the group walks.”

Teenage dogs
Six to eighteen months, when everything they learned seems to fall out of their head.
Sounds like
- “He was so good as a puppy”
- “She's started ignoring me completely”
- “He's bouncing off the walls by 7pm”
On the call
What's normal for adolescence, what isn't, and how to get through it with your training and your sofa intact.

Manners at home
Jumping up, door chaos, stealing socks, barking at the window.
Sounds like
- “Visitors get flattened”
- “The postman is a daily crisis”
- “He can't settle in the evening”
On the call
Gareth sees the behaviour where it happens, in your own hallway and living room, which is the one thing a village hall class can't do.
What we won't do over video.
Serious aggression and dogs with a bite history need hands-on help from a behaviourist, usually alongside your vet. If that's where you are, say so on your first call. Gareth will tell you plainly and point you to the right kind of help.
Gareth has been walking Rue for around 5 months now. We were both so impressed with the effort he's made to properly learn and understand Rue's character. Gareth has a clear passion for dogs and good knowledge of training. We've noticed a big improvement in Rue's confidence since walking with Gareth and love seeing videos of her getting involved, playing with the other dogs. We both completely trust Gareth with Rue and feel grateful to have found someone who goes above and beyond to ensure all the dogs have the best time on their walks.
Not sure where your dog fits? Pre-register and tell Gareth about them when calls open.

Getting on with other dogs
Gareth matches dogs into groups every working day. He knows who suits who, and why.
Sounds like
On the call
What good play looks like, when to step in, and how to set up meetings your dog can win.
